Question

Good morning Gil,

I just purchased a 2019 M2401 convertible. I just drove from Fl. to NY to visit family. Something bothers me a lot and that is the view out of the rear window while driving. The rear seat head rests block a clear view. I tried removing them but they are different from the front seat ones. They won’t come out. Do you know how I can remove them and only use them while someone is seated in the rear seats?

Answer

Hello Mr. Bertos, sorry for the delay. To remove them you either pull on them, it does take some effort or there is a button at the base of the headrests that you push in and pull the headrests at the same time.  As a very important safety reminder, if there is a passenger in the rear seat, the headrests have to be installed/in-place.  There is a roll bar that pops up directly behind the headrests, if the headrests are not installed it could lead to severe injury or death to the passenger. Let me know if you have any more questions.  Thank you.

  1. Hello Lou,
We got a 230i convertible last September as European delivery and took the rear headrests out directly at the BMW World in Munich. The first time is a little hard to do it, but they come out and then the view is fine.
