1991 E325i After driving until engine is really hot (heat gauge normal) after shutting off, it will not restart unless it sits for 20-40 minute. Restart is normal. When it wont start there is only a faint click of the solenoid. Its like there is no starter. All other electric items work. When I have a mechanic check it, it always starts, so have not been able to check the starter when it wont start.

Hello Mr. Scott, the first thing to do is to have the battery checked with a load tester. If the battery tests ok you will have to check the starter when the conditionis present, or find a shop with the ability to perform a starter test with it in the vehicle. The best way howeverm is to try to test when the issue is present. The other thing I would do is try to turn the engine by hand when th eissue is present, just to make sure that there is nothing binding. Please let me know if I can help you further. Thank you.
