What brand engine oil does BMW recommend for a 2017 M2, other than its own brand? Or alternatively, what oil company produces BMW motor oil? Thanks
Hello Mr. Baumgartel, the 2017 BMW M2 that you own falls into 2 oil specifications, the first is BMW Long Life 2001 (LL01) and BMW Improved fuel Economy (FE+), the recommended grade is 0W30. Any oil listed in the specifications list mentioned above will be approved by BMW. Just as a point of reference, that information is usually available from your owner’s manual. Due to the warranty I would not stray from the oils recommended on the lists. As far as the manufacturer the people who know don’t like to talk about it, most people at a dealership will not have that information, however, rumor is that it is a re branded Castrol European specification, therefore not available in the U.S.
Thank you for your question.
