On Saturday November 14^th we had our annual Concours and BBQ sponsored and held at Field’s BMW in Lakeland. It was held later this year due to construction at the dealership, but the new facilities were evident when we arrived Saturday morning. Fields BMW had plenty of hot coffee and donuts for us when we began to arrive on what turned out to be a cooler but perfectly sunny day for the event. This year’s event was more of a fun concourse with voting only for “People’s Choice” by car class and over all “Best in Show”.

Vehicles began arriving a little before 9AM and filled the lot with late arrivals around 11AM. The cars were arranged by Classic, Vintage, Later models. M-Cars, Z-Cars and X cars. Since no X-Cars came and only one Z-car showed we placed the Z in with the other M-cars since the Z was also an M car as well. We had roughly just under 40 cars in attendance with many new faces and old faces that many of us had not seen for a while. With the show being a “Fun Concours” many cars were allowed to open their hoods and show off their engines and custom features. After balloting was finished everyone enjoyed a catered BBQ lunch inside the Dealership office. Bob Ziegler counted up the votes and after lunch the awards were handed out to the winner of each class and runner up. In attendance was the winner of the BMW CCA raffle with his new car that won the late model category, and in a strange turn of luck – or maybe fate- the Best in Show award also went to him. That is one lucky guy. After the awards were made many people hung around talking and looking at cars. It was big success and a lot of fun.
