Question

Hi Gil,
Thank you for taking my question. I was so glad to hear about this during the annual meeting yesterday (my first one). First off I wanted to mention that I attempted to use the web form on the website to post my question however I was unable to enter text into the field where questions are asked.
The alarm on my 2014 335i has been going off intermittently for no reason lately. This happened twice last night several minutes after being parked as I was walking away and once last week in a flat parking garage. Neither time was the remote being pressed nor was the car being moved. I replaced the battery in the key fob last week and still no luck. The car has 37k miles and just out of warranty. Is there a common fix for this? (any sensors or modules that are known to produce this)
Thank you I appreciate your time.

Answer

Hello Mr. Edison, I’m glad to hear you were able to make it to the meeting. As it relates to your issue, unfortunately there is no way to diagnose the issue without a scan tool with the BMW software. The reason is that as with everything in that car the alarm is computer controlled, as such you need the scan tool in order to check for error codes and sensor operation. You could have one of the sensors going bad and showing an incorrect reading or it could be a glitch/fault with the actual control unit.

I do not know where in Tampa you are located but we recommend Rennen European Automotive. This is their website: https://www.rennenimports.com/.

Please let me know if there is anything else that I can do for you. I hope I was able to help.

Gil Neves
