I have a 2006 BMW X3 where the rear reverse lights are not working. No power is going to the lights. I don’t think there is a fuse for the reverse lights. I have a automatic transmission. I checked the wire harness in the rear it looks good. I’m kinda stuck. Maybe the transmission has a reverse module for the lights.
Hello Mr. Nikolov, as with all things electrical in that car the reverse light is computer controlled. The diagnostic process would be for you to get a wiring diagram for the car and check for power going backwards from the lights until you find the point in which there is no power, however, because it is computer controlled all you can check is the wiring without a scan tool. So check the wiring with the diagram and see if you can find the point in which the power goes away, if that point is one of the computers you will need the scan tool to diagnose it properly. The reason is that if the computer is not supplying power it does not mean the computer is at fault, it could be a bad input into it. I hope I was able to help. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Thank you.
